Educational Philosophies:

I believe that learning is a natural, God given process, and our job as parents and educators is to foster curiosity and a child’s innate desire to learn. There are so many valuable curriculums available, but in addition, learning takes place in every aspect of life - through living books, music, nature, conversation, real life skills and relationship. I also believe it is vital to teach children the skills of critical thinking; to challenge and equip them to seek the truth on issues thoughtfully and clearly, and then to use wisdom and knowledge to come to conclusions.  Above all we want our children to walk in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Educational Interests:

Believing that we are each “fearfully and wonderfully made,” my goal is to support families in developing a learning plan that fits with their unique needs. There is a broad and natural overlap between subjects, and I love the challenge of finding creative and appropriate ways to combine subjects and learning.  Learning then becomes more exciting as we see how the pieces of our world fit together! Learning should be a life-long process that can happen naturally throughout the day, in a way that is in geared towards a child’s unique interests, ability and learning style. There are so many different ways to learn!  

Instructional Specialties:

I love teaching all subjects but my primary background is in Math and Science. As a homeschool mom of 15 years with 5 kids of my own, I bring experience in teaching multiple children of different ages and abilities at the same time. It really can be done successfully, and work for everyone!

Areas I Do Not Cover:

I am happy to help families succeed in all aspects of their education plans, and to help set up extra supports for families where additional or specialized help is needed and appropriate.   I love helping families realize they can succeed, and then helping them get there in a way that works for them!
