Staff Profile: Rosamay Conejos

Professional Profile

Works with Students in Grades:

K-12

Educational Philosophy:

I believe that lifelong learning happens when the children are engaged and challenged in an environment in which they feel the safest and most comfortable. A supportive and welcoming community also plays a key role in developing the whole child as an extension to the home learning environment. With a child-led, trauma-informed approach to authentic learning, a personalized and flexible learning plan meets learners where they are and sets them up for academic success and cultivates social emotional learning surrounded with opportunities tailored to their unique learning profile.

Educational Interests:

As a parent of twice-exceptional children, I highly value inclusive, equitable education and affirm neurodiversity. In my teaching practice, I follow the principles of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) and Differentiated Instruction to help support each learner's unique human needs.

Instructional Specialties

Although my primary degree is in Secondary Education - major in English, I recently completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Inclusive Education (Special Education) and I would love to work with and learn from children with neurodivergence. Earlier in my teaching career, I received my Postgraduate Diploma in English Language Teaching, ECE (and Inclusive Child Care) Diploma, as well as have my AMI Montessori Diploma.

Areas I Do Not Cover:

I do not cover high school math and second languages. I used to study ASL and Spanish but alas, they didn’t stick with me.

Communication Style Preference:

I would prefer email but I can also accommodate occasional phone or video calls.

Hours of Availability:

As I try to find the elusive work-life balance, I “try” to stick to a Monday - Friday work schedule.
