Epidemiologists use calculus to study the spread of infectious disease, helping them determine where a disease originated, and how to contain it.
Medicine
Applications of calculus include determining the derivative optimization strength of drugs, instantaneous rate of blood flow through the heart, and the growth rate or shrinkage of a tumor.
Business, Economics & Finance
Calculus is used to predict the dynamics of financial markets. It is used in long-term cost, profit, and revenue-generation calculations. Credit card companies use calculus for payments.
Engineering
Calculus is used in, for example, designing bridges, tunnels and earthquake-proof buildings, analyzing air flow over aircraft wings, determining the length of power cables, space flight, analog and digital audio and video processing, and in algorithms for neural networks used in AI.
