Grade 11 Science Options
Chemistry 11 |
In Chemistry 11 students will explore Atomic Theory, Organic Chemistry, Matter, Energy and Solubility. This course uses the Apologia Exploring Creation with Chemistry resource but other curricula options can be pursued. Students will also have many opportunities to develop fluency with the scientific method, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the concepts through experiential learning. Thorough study habits and review will be encouraged to help students master the topics and develop study habits needed to pursue future science courses with success. |

Earth Sciences 11 |
In Earth Science 11 students will use a variety of texts as they learn, exploring both secular and faith-based theories. They will explore earth materials, plate tectonic theory, the atmosphere, global distribution of water and the interactions of Earth and its solar system. or Prepared Course: In Earth Science 11, students will use a variety of texts as they explore astronomy, weather, geology, and minerals from a conservative worldview. Environmental Science 11 Permaculture Basics |
Environmental Science 11 is based on The Permaculture Student 1 book by Matt Powers. In this Moodle-based course students will explore the content and skills of Environmental Science 11 through the lense of permaculture principles. They will discover the complex roles and relationships in diverse ecosystems, how human practices affect the sustainability of ecosystems and the role humans can play in stewardship and restoration of ecosystems. Students planning to take Permaculture Foundations should not take this course since EVSC 11 is part of the Permaculture Foundations package (12 credits) and uses a different resource. |

Science for Citizens 11 |
In this individualized course students will explore how scientific process and knowledge can impact and inform our daily lives and workplaces. Students will have many opportunities to develop fluency with scientific application, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the concepts through experiential learning. This course is well-suited for integration with student’s personal interests and pursuits. Resources will be carefully selected to meet the students needs and goals for the course. |
