Grade 11 Social Studies Options

Explorations in Social Studies 11 In this survey course students will select from a wide variety of resources to explore three focus areas from the following list Asian Studies, BC First Peoples, Comparative Cultures, Human Geography, Political Studies, 20th Century World History, Contemporary Indigenous Studies, Comparative World Religion, Economics, Genocide Studies, Law Studies, Philosophy, Social Justice, Urban Studies, and Physical Geography. Students will inquire, assess, compare, explain and make judgements in response to the content they explore. Teachers will work with students to craft meaningful tasks in which to develop, reflect on and demonstrate their learning. Students may complete this course using a variety of resources including textbooks, workbooks, historical fiction and non-fiction, videos, etc.. This course can also be completed concurrently alongside Composition 11 or Permaculture Foundations. 4 Credits
